Beef 101 & Grilling Tips From Fairway Market

Where's the beef? Master Butcher Ray Venezia from Fairway Market stopped by to explain different cuts of meat and grilling tips to us in time for the Father's Day weekend.
He's also giving away a 130-pound side of beef that's worth about $1,200. All you have to do is wait for the on-air cue and be the 11th caller to (866) 414-2911 with the keyword "Fairway." Good luck!
• Porterhouse Steaks - The porterhouse is the classic top steak house cut ( got its name from an owner of a what was called porterhouses (like a boarding house) served this cut in his dinning room and it became very popular. It is a great steak for two. It is the shell steak on top(generally for him) and the filet mignon on the bottom for her. Unfortunately, higher calorie and fat content than the other grilling steaks.
• Boneless Shell Steaks (aka New York Strip) - One of the most popular steaks for its great flavor and tenderness. It's lower in calories and fat than the porterhouse.
• Filet Steaks - Known for being one of the most tender pieces in the whole animal because it is an unused muscle not as strong flavor as the shell and a little higher in fat but you can never go wrong with filet (no one walks away from the filet mignon table). need to be careful when cooking because it is so soft it goes from done to over done in seconds. ranks fat wise between the porterhouse and the shell.
• Flank Steak - Lower in fat than the steaks cuts. It is the original London broil. Cooked whole and than slice thin on an angle. Needs to be marinated so you need to be careful fat wise because of the fat calories in the marinades.
• Top Round London Broil - The most common cut used for London broil and on sale a lot at markets. Does need to be marinated for tenderness but very flavorful. Prepare it the same way you use a flank steak you would do your top round London broil.
• Loin Veal Chops - It is the same cut as the porterhouse steak it is low in fat and great on the grill.

Why should the Board Of Education do this? I do understand that cyber bullying is not right, but at the same time the Board Of Education should not be getting into students personal situation. If cyber bullying is done outside of school, thats for the NYPD to deal with. If it's done during school, then the DOE can handle that. Its not fair to students or anyone that the DOE is going to stick their nose where it's really not needed at sometimes.
