Maloof Brothers Host Annual Maloof Money Cup In NYC

This weekend is the New York City premiere of the Maloof Money Cup, which was created a few years ago by the Maloof Brothers, who own the Sacramento Kings & The Palms Hotel & Casino in Vegas.
MMC is the world's biggest skateboarding competition. For the past few years, MMC has been held in Orange County where it originated, and this is the first year there will be a competition in NYC as well.
Next year, MMC will go global, with a competition in South Africa. Skateboarding is America's fastest-growing sport. It's a $4.4 billion industry with more than 9 million Americans skateboarding.
Joe Maloof is donating the skatepark, which cost over $1 million to build, to the City of New York after the competition. He is also bringing in 1,200 underpriveleged kids, some of whom will be attending the competition as well, to watch the skaters practice, receive a free skate clinic.
