Ron Galella Documents His Paparazzo Adventures In 'Smash His Camera'
Smash His Camera, which debuts on HBO on June 7, profiles Ron Galella, the original American paparazzo. Ron took iconic photographs of such celebrities as Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Marlon Brando and Andy Warhol, placing the legendary photographer at the center of the debate about the First Amendment right to privacy.
Directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Leon Gast (When We Were Kings) and produced by Adam Schlesinger and Linda Saffire, Smash His Camera is a lively portrait of photographer, Ron Gallella, the self-proclaimed paparazzo superstar.
The film recently received its world premiere at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, where Leon Gast received the Directing Prize for the U.S. Documentary Competition. For more information, visit www.hbo.com.
