NYC Middle School Film Festival Encourages Creativity Through Camera Lens

film0503.png

The NYC Middle School Film Festival 2010, a component of the Department of Education's Campaign for Middle School Success is an exciting initiative to give 7th and 8th grade students city-wide the opportunity to:

• Write a film story about their lives based on the theme, "Where I'm From..."
• Win a scholarship to a two-week Film Production Camp this summer with the New York Film Academy where students will make their own film
• Have their short films screened in the Fall at the NYC Middle School Film Festival 2010 event

We spoke to Malika Delpesche, the student who won the festival's Best Film in 2009 and a Sabrina Hope King of the Department of Education about the program.

Interested students can apply for one of 100 free summer camp scholarships. Camp dates are Session 1: July 5- 16 and Session 2: July 19-30. For more information, visit tinyurl.com/MiddleSchoolFilmFestival.
