New Jersey Students Support Project SOS
BY LISA MATEO

The fight to support our students from losing free student MetroCards has reached a new level.
Now students in New Jersey have joined the cause and the initiative at PIX 11 News, Project SOS - Support Our Students.
Dozens of 6th graders from the Benjamin Franklin School No. 13 in Elizabeth wrote in letters of support of the campaign stating why they stand behind it.
The letters began as a writing project from their language arts teacher, Ms. Evalina Despaigne. Principal Ms. Michelle Cunha said she is very proud of her students.
The possible elimination of the free student MetoCards was first announced in December as a way for the MTA to close a nearly $800 million dollar budget gap.
