Hall of Fame outfielder and baseball television analyst Dave Winfield is playing a new position this season by teaming with Ask.com, an online site for asking questions and getting answers. Winfield is participating in the company’s free “Answers for the Cure™” program which benefits Susan G. Komen for the Cure, encouraging baseball fans to join the fight against breast cancer.

The former Yankee slugger's lost him mom to breast cancer. Winfield admits, “I know firsthand what it’s like to have questions about the disease and want to get involved in ending breast cancer. Ask is providing an easy solution for answers, education and awareness and I’m proud to be partnered with them in support of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.”

To encourage baseball fans to get involved, a special baseball-themed version is available to people visiting www.Ask.com/forthecure. For every person who joins the “Answers for the Cure” program in 2010, Ask will contribute $0.10 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.. Contributions will help fund life-saving research, education, screening services and community outreach projects.

Serving as an official spokesperson for the program, Winfield will be featured in national radio and television public service announcements to raise awareness about the disease that will affect one in eight American women during their lifetime.

Ask will contribute a minimum guaranteed contribution of $100,000, in conjunction with consumers who participate in the “Answers for the Cure” program. Ask has pledged to invest at least $1 million by December 31, 2010 through this program and its sponsorship of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Series.
