It's Bike To Work Day!

bike0521.jpg

Only 2 percent of people in the U.S. currently commute to work by bicycle, but more than half of Americans live less than five miles from where they work, according to the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey and U.S. Dept. of Transportation Federal Highway Administration.

Friday, May 21st is Bike to Work Day and Alexandra Postman, editor-in-chief ofWhole Living magazine shares with our Lisa Mateo bike-safety tips for commuting in and around NYC; web sites to check out before hitting the road; and the best new commuting, shopping, and kid-towing biking gear.

Whole Living magazine will also be offering free smoothies by the West Side Highway bike path powered by - what else? - a bike - for those New Yorkers who bike to work on Friday, May 21st. And, be sure to stop by becasue they're giving away two bikes for free in a raffle!
