Angelina Ballerina Stars of Tomorrow

Harold Maldonado Jr., who is the executive director of Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club in the Bronx, and daughter Erica Strubbe-Montalvo, stopped by to talk about their dance program Angelina Ballerina Stars of Tomorrow.
Harold was the club's second member when it opened in 1969. At age 16, he had found his vocation working with the community and has been with the club first as a member, then eventually working up through the ranks.
His daughter, Erica, a Julliard-educated dancer, who has performed in off-Broadway theater and is a former NBA All-Star dancer, returned to the club where she grew up as well, to work on their already well-respected performing arts programming. The program boasts prominent alumni including actresses Kerry Washington and Jennifer Lopez.
Now, Maldonado and Strubbe have begun working with HIT Entertainment to develop a brand new, nonprofit dance program Angelina Ballerina Stars of Tomorrow, which will offer ballet, modern, hip hop, tap, jazz, and African dance.
The program is free with membership to the Boys & Girls Club...which is $8 a year! Anyone in the tri-state area can be part of the program.

I think the clubs do a great job. And Angelina is a real roll model.
