7th Annual Newport Race
Over 1200 runners took their marks at Newport Town Square on Jersey City's waterfront on Saturday, May 8, 2010, for the Seventh Annual Riker Danzig Newport 10,000. The community raised money to support the Jersey City Medical Center, the area's newest teaching hospital, which provides the ultimate level of care for women, infants and trauma and heart patients.
Taking first place was Ketema Nidusse, originally of Ethiopia. The Bronx resident clocked in at 29 minutes, 41 seconds. The first woman to cross the finish line was Buzunesh Deba, with a time of 33 minutes, 48 seconds.
Newport is a waterfront "live, work, shop and dine" community, just minutes from Manhattan. This mixed-use community consists of residential, office, retail, leisure and entertainment facilities. Already, more than 10,000 residents live in the community's ten high-rise luxury towers. Located on the Hudson River waterfront, Newport is situated opposite lower Manhattan and offers breathtaking views of New York's skyline and panoramic harbor. Connected to the rest of New Jersey and New York by PATH train, light rail, ferry service, buses and N.J. Transit, Newport has world-class restaurants, businesses and luxury apartments.
