Tech Talk With Tamsen

If you are a social network junkie, you will be happy to know a few of the major social networking sites are undergoing little makeovers to help users. From Facebook, to Twitter, to YouTube, the changes are coming to help de-clutter sites and ultimately attract more users.

Let's start with Facebook. Earlier this week, Facebook announced that instead of people becoming "fans" on brand or company pages, users will be prompted instead to "Like" things they want to share with the world. Those pages include musicians, books, special causes, or corporate brands that really use the site for marketing purposes.

Twitter has already made changes to its homepage starting immediately.

The social networking giant is testing a new homepage design to give user a glimpse of what's going on inside the popular micro-blogging site.

Here's what is means. You are going to be able to see selected top tweets every few seconds on the site so that you can instantly know what people are talking about. The site will also offer a list of suggested users for you to follow over on the left hand side of the page.

And finally, there is something on Twitter called "trending topics," that are usually on your individual page. Those trending topics will now be scrolling across the top of the home page.

YouTube is also undergoing a makeover. The video sharing site that is owned by Google is in the process of revamping its pages where visitors watch clips everyday.

The goal is to de-clutter YouTube and drive people to watch even more videos.

YouTube will also be rolling out a different version of its video playback page that will be more streamlined and easier to use.

Plus, the site is doing away with it's five-star video rating system and replacing it with a more simple option to "like" or "dislike."
