UK Singing Sensation JLS Makes Their Pop Mark In America

The UK's chart-smashing pop group JLS stopped by and gave us a ground breaking performance right here in the PIX Morning News studio.

Last year, their self-titled debut album topped the album charts in the UK, selling over one million copies in two months and spawning two No.1 smash hits, “Everybody In Love” and “Beat Again,” which became the fastest selling debut single of the 2009 ahead of Lady Gaga in the U.K.

The group consists of English boys Aston Merrygold, Marvin Humes, Jonathan "JB" Gill, and Oritsé Williams. They were runners-up in the fifth series of ITV reality talent show The X Factor in 2008.

In an recent interview JB said their music “is exactly what we wanted to make.” Breaking every boy-band rule as they go, JLS were involved in every aspect of the creative process as they put together their debut album. The boys have got involved in the writing, making sure that the sound of JLS is exactly what they first had in mind when they met to audition. They all talk excitably about the process and delightedly of the results.

If 2009 was a breakout year for JLS, 2010 is shaping up to further establish the group’s popularity and extend their incredible hit-making streak worldwide.
