Holly Robinson Peete, Husband Rodney Promote Autism Awareness

Actress, singer, and writer, Holly Robinson Peete stopped by to talk about her support for the Autism Awareness Month, along with her husband, former National Football League quarterback Rodney Peete, and their 12-year-old daughter, Ryan Elizabeth Peete.

Holly and her husband have come a long way of autism, back when one of their twins, Rodney Pete Jr., was diagnosed with autism at the age of 3. Their concern for Autism only grew stronger. Holly and her daughter wrote a children's illustrated book called My Brother Charlie, based on their personal experiences. Rodney also wrote a book called Not My Boy for parents.

In order to bring Autism Awareness, Holly established a foundation called HollyRod Foundation, dedicated to helping those in need of medical, physical and emotional support to those suffering with debilitating life circumstances.

Holly's support for Autism Awareness Month has inspired many moms across the nation in facing these challenges. Scholastic will be publishing this inspiring story in April 2010 timed to World Autism Awareness Day.

As many of you may know, Holly's career as an actress began when she was cast for roles on the crime series 21 Jump Street and Hangin' with Mr. Cooper. She married Rodney Peete back in 1995 when he surprisingly proposed to her. Together they have four children. She is also the author of Get Your Own Damn Beer, I'm Watching the Game!: A Woman's Guide to Loving Pro Football, Rodale, which earned her a Quills Award.

Be sure to get a signature from Holly and her husband, Rodney Peete, and their daughter Ryan Elizabeth at Toys R Us Times Square this Saturday, April 3rd!
