Countdown To School Board Elections
On Tuesday, April 20th, voters in New Jersey will head to the polls to vote for school board members and to approve 2010-2011school budgets. With Governor Chris Christie planning to cut state aid, many school districts stand to lose millions in funding.
One school district feeling the crunch is North Brunswick Township in Middlesex County. Under Christie's budget plan, its school system stands to lose $8,680,802 in aid. This school year, North Brunswick received $12,640,118 from the state.
PIX11 Morning News anchor Craig Treadway has been following the story all week. He has spoken with school administrators and educators throughout the "Garden State" about this battle going on in New Jersey and got their side of the argument. Among his featured in-studio guests....Barbara Kenishian, President of NJ Education Association; Dr. Richard Bozza, Executive Director of the New Jersey Association of School Administrators; Dr. Brian Zychowski, Superintendent of Schools for North Brunswick Township School District.
This morning, Treadway was joined by parents voicing their concerns over the possible education cuts and how they may affect their children's education.
