How To Celebrate Passover Seder 101

Passover begins at sundown tonight and is celebrated for eight days. On the first two nights, Jewish families host seders, a traditional and symbolic meal. With the help of Sarah Lasry, consultant to the Manischewitz Brands – a leading provider of kosher food products in the US, we learned a lot about the customs surrounding this holiday. Sarah is also a cook book author of The Dairy Gourmet and restaurant owner of Tastebuds Café in Howell, NJ.
Traditional table includes:
1. Hagadah – the story book of Passover, the traditions etc..
2. K’ara – plate of 6 symbolic foods)
3. Matzo
4. Cup of Elijah
5. 4 cups of wine that is drunk at various intervals throughout the meal
6. Traditional Passover meal
7. Afikoman – the dessert Matzo that the parent/child hides at the beginning of the meal and then for a prize returns at the end of the meal for the last taste of Matzo before the night ends
