It's Greek Independence Day!

greekday.jpg

March 25th marks Greek Independence Day and to celebrate the anniversary of the Greek Declaration of Independence we propose a “Hellenic Cultural Display”, honoring the Greek community of New York, the largest in the United States, and promoting Hellenic culture.

Greek dancers from Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in New York will perform traditional Greek dance outfitted in customary dress. A display of Greek food from Tratta in Manhattan will also be presented by the chef and owner, George Voutsinas, who will explain the origins of each dish and its cultural significance.

This commemoration of Greek Independence Day and Hellenic identity will be of great interest to your viewers and will celebrate the diverse backgrounds of New York residents.

Greek Independence Day, March 25th, is the 187th anniversary of Greek revolt against occupation by the Ottoman Empire and the commencement of the ultimately successful war of independence.
