How To Get Rid Of Your Grays

graybegone.jpg

Men are just as sensitive about going gray as women but most don't know they can get rid of it in their own bathroom. Jason Backe uses similar techniques on his celeb clients like Timothy Hutton and Gabriel Byrne.

Touchback
• If you are just seeing first signs of gray and you want to conceal them for a younger look use touchback

• Touchback is the first liquid hair color in a marker and is completely mistake-proof

• Use the guiding comb underneath hair and apply the touchback marker directly to grays, let dry for a minute and then you can style and comb through hair

• TouchBack washes out with shampoo

At-home hair color
• Leave on for only half the time to avoid an unnatural shoe polish look

• The first time you are coloring hair at home opt for a demi-permanent color to see if it blends the grays enough ;

• If you want more coverage after this first try out a permanent shade, this all depends on preference

• Remember start out slowly, you can always add more color but it is hard to remove if you start off quickly

Salon color
• I recommend going to the salon if this is the first time you are coloring your hair because you will be in the hands of a professional who can make it natural looking using techniques and tricks that you might not be able to achieve at home, for example leaving the temples gray for a more natural achieved look

• Men can bring in pictures for a look but should also ask the professional what they recommend

• Men should ask about concealing grays using highlights and lowlights or a demi-permanent vs. permanent.

• Another excellent recommendation to make to your colorist is how much you want to visit the salon, do you want to be in every 4 weeks or every 12? How much money do you want to spend, etc…
