Post-Wedding Looks For Your Old Bridesmaid Dress

bride0202.jpg

Every bride might say "you can wear it again," but how many girls actually wear their bridesmaids’ dresses after the wedding? Style Expert Michele Horner was here to show us how.

LOOK: Daytime Casual/Everyday
• Bridesmaid dresses can also work for the office or daytime just by adding a few accessories to dress it down.
• Add a lightweight, long cardigan and close toed pumps for a dress is perfect for work.
• Right now texture is in and so are neutral colored shoes. So these suede pumps in camel from Geox are an easy way to update the dress.
• Gray cardigan from Esprit, $89.50
• Geox platform pumps in camel suede, $175
• J.Crew headband, $22.50
• J.Crew necklace, $59.50

LOOK: Winter cocktail party
• Chiffon dresses in pastel colors seem limiting because they shout "spring/summer" wedding.
• Adding a black skirt over the thin chiffon of this bridesmaid dress makes it appropriate for winter parties.
• Black satin skirt from Esprit, $109.50

LOOK: Girls Night Out/Cocktail Party
• This simple black bridesmaid dress just needs to a few tweaks to be transformed into a sexy LBD
• Dress hemmed and bow removed by tailor, approximate cost $75
• Add some bold accessories such as a metallic studded belt to liven up the plain dress
• Express belt, $59.50
• Another trend in footwear - high heeled Oxford lace-ups. These are from Geox for $175

LOOK: Urban/Biker Glam
• This bridesmaid dress is super feminine with its bright pink color, so add some accessories to tone down the pink color and make it a little edgier.
• Cropped leather jackets are super popular right now and gives the new look a more urban, updated feel. Very UN-bridesmaid-like.
• Belstaff leather bomber, $1,195 available from J.Crew
• If you don't want to permanently change the dress, just use some sewing tape (available at any sewing store like JoAnn Fabrics) and temporarily shorten the dress with the tape and an iron.
• Patterned tights are a cheap, easy way to dress up a plain dress. Tights, Express, $19.50
• High-heeled suede black shoes
