The closure of the 27 schools and opening of mini schools is not a solution to this existing problem. As opposed to closing, find out the problem. Put the resourses in place to resolve problems. For example, Jamaica HS is a school that is getting bombbarded with children who do not speak English and who have existing problems. In addition to this programs have not been provided to resolve existing problems. How in God's green earth do you expect Jamaica HS to become a school that has a higher graduation rate when you aren't dividing children with problems (ESL) in each school and instead their being dumped into one or two schools? What is going to happen to these students? Will they be placed into smaller schools and the problems that they carry with them then be addressed???? Will they be forced to age out of school? Why not address the situations NOW in the schools that they exist within! Closing of schools and providing smaller schools is not the answer. Someone has to much power and not enough information regarding solutions to this ongoing problem. Today the closure of 27 schools and tomorrow 27 more. Not only do these schools need more financial support they also need programs to assist with the students problems.
Larry,
It’s like old times! Welcome back!
