2010 Tax Tips

Starting on Friday, the IRS is accepting tax returns for 2009, so why wait to file? Mark Steber, chief tax officer at Jackson Hewitt Tax Service, was here to offer some advice for filing, plus give us a little update on new tax laws.
• New credits for secondary education - tuition, books, computers
• Homebuyer tax break - not just for first-time homebuyers
• Earned income tax credit has expanded - raised up to 3 children; salary cap has been raised
• New deductions for unemployed tax filers
