i feel we should boycott the mta to show them they can't do what ever they want with us. they make so much money on a day to day basis how can they be missing money if their always raising the price.i remember when it cost 1.00 to get on the train or buses.they where not complaining then.they make money with the advertisings they place on trains, why do they need a screen t.v. on their Manhattan buses.clearly their misspending their money why should our children have to pay for their mistakes.

How about the state fix the budget and do some and lower the tax burden in this state?

i live in NJ we pay high taxes out there and my children dont have free bussing. i had to pay for my children school bus with cost me 400.00 each child and i have 3 kids. it was very diffcult. my daughter went to college in nyc
and she paid 7.50 each way everyday. she needed to get a job to pay for her transportation. its not fair that city kids pay nothing for there cheap transporation and people who pay high high taxes gets to pay for everything. being i had to pay for my 3 kids and i had to sarcfice things for them to get to school that is what i did. no pricy sneakers or coats that money went into transportation. every parent should do the same.

Our state reps should be working on trimming the budget and our taxes.

This is a disgrace, that children are expected to foot the bill for their education. Most of the people who will be affected by this are ecnomically disadvanteged. Who cannot afford this, possibly boosting the drop-out rate.

It's not the responsibility of the MTA (a private company) to provide students with a ride to school. This SoS program is a very socialist view, but I guess that's the way this country is headed. The people to blame is the City for closing so many schools years ago and making students travel farther from their homes. The city should pay the MTA for the students to ride just like in the suburbs, but that would mean highier taxes for the people in the city and we wouldn't want that right? As far as student attendance dropping because of this cut, the parents need to take respondsibility and get their kids to school. We should stop protesting for this SOS and protest against the increasing socialist view that people of this country seem to have.

Its about time that the students pay for their fare. Many times I have noticed students use their passes when there is no school. They also use their passes & never go to school. During the springtime they cut school or don't even go to school! I have seen many going to the beach & I think its about time that we stop paying for their free fares!

My daughter goes to school each day, how do I know this? I take her and drop her off and mmake certain that her fare card is being used appropriately(for school). The percentage of h.s. drop outs and train delinquency will certainly rise if student fare is taken away from them. High school is not easy for many of these kids but many of them are making the effort to get to school and learn, do you really want to make it that much harder for them to get to school and easier for them to give up and drop out? And later on that will ultimately be more costly, I think. Please think this through or at least give them some time to prepare for this, don't just spring this on us.

People that talking about students paying fares are out of their mind. Children need to get to and from school. They should have the Metro Cards only work on school days and for the students who abuse them and not go to school then they should be revoked according to attendance. Our children should have to stop paying for our city's errors. In budgeting money. I have 4 children in public schools and on a fixed income as many other parents. Stop complaining and stand up for our kids. I stand by SOS 100%.

I would also like to state that all of our wonderful city employees should pay their fares and stop flashing badges to get a free ride. That is where all the missing money is.
