Healthy Meals For Kids

It's harder than ever to get your kids to eat healthy, but it can be done. You just have to know how to sneak the good stuff in.

Physician, nutrition specialist and pediatrician Dr. Mary Renna, author of Growing Up Healthy, The Next Generation Way was here with some healthy alternatives for your kids' meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert). She shared with us her recipes for Oatmeal Pancakes with Bananas, Single-Serving Easy Pizza, Chicken Strips and Rice Pudding.

Breakfast: Oatmeal Pancakes with Bananas
Ingredients
3/4 cup flour
1/4 tsp. Baking soda
1 tsp. Baking power
1 tbsp. Sugar
1/3 cup quick cooking oats
1/4 tsp. Salt
1/4 cup egg whites
2 tbsp. Melted butter
1 cup skim milk
1 banana, sliced thinly


Lunch: Single-Serving Easy Pizza
Ingredients
1 whole wheat wrap
1/2 cup tomato sauce
1 oz. Low-fat shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup sliced peppers
1/4 cup sliced mushrooms


Dinner: Chicken Strips
Ingredients
2 cups high-fiber cereal
2 tbsp. wheat germ
salt and pepper
1 egg, large
1 lb. Chicken breast cutlets, cut into long, thin strips
2 tbsp. olive oil


Dessert: Rice Pudding
Ingredients
1 pkg microwavable organic brown rice
2 eggs
1 cup nonfat vanilla soy milk
1/2 tsp. Almond extract
1/4 cup sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
Cinnamon powder
