Comptroller-elect John Liu Blasts MTA

john%20lui.jpg

"You never know what to expect from the MTA nowadays, except that they're constantly asking from more money," said City Council member and Comptroller-elect John Liu. "They have reached the new low."

As to the plan to eliminate free rides for New York City school children, Liu argued the proposed cut is not going to save the authority "a single cent."

"The MTA is jumping the gun here," said Liu, who promised to look into the authority's financial problem as his first task as the city's comptroller in January.

Taking away the Student Metro Cards is an outrage.
If any other company but the MTA would mismanage there government funded budget they would be investigated by the FBI with a fine tooth comb. The MTA has raised fares stating it’s for maintaining stations and for track work but there still stations that should be condemned! Where did the money go?
The executives at the MTA make an outrageous amount of money with nothing to show for it but excuses and badly kept books, how can you miscalculate $300,000.000.00. I say lets open the book to the public and see where the money went? we have the right to know. Let’s put some of these students at the helm of the MTA I believe they would do a much better job than these MTA executives that are nothing but fat, greedy, corrupt individual that are only in it to line there pockets.
WHAT A JOKE!!!

I know how the MTA can save a ton of money. If New Yorkers used common sense we would not need all the car cleaners that the TA has. If all New Yorkers used the waste paper baskets instead of the train floors for their garbage, cigarette butts, coffee cups, newspapers and fried chicken bones, we would not need the TA cleaners. If New Yorkers used bathrooms to pee in instead of the train floors or the floor of the stations, we would not need TA cleaners. Think about it. Who does all of this, our fellow New Yorkers or Transit Workers. As for trains being late, who causes that? Our fellow New Yorkers. How? How many times do you see one person run downstairs to hold the doors open so the rest of his family can walk down the stairs slowly and get on the train. What about the people who are waiting for that train at the next station. Or, when the conductor is trying to close the doors and people are fighting to hold the doors open so more people can get on the train, what about the people who are waiting for the train at the next station.
