The new uniforms are a joke. It's just another way for them to get money from their fans. They have as many uniforms as they did wins last year. Management should worry about the team more and not what they're wearing.
The New York Mets uniforms, as detailed in yesterday's press release, are wonderful. They harken back to the 1969 New York Mets. The Miracle Mets of 1969 were the greatest underdog story is sports history. That year represents the greatest single season in the illustrious history of this New York National League Franchise. The Mets should have worn the Pinstriped Uniforms as their ONLY uniform for ALL Home Games. The Dodger like snow white uniforms are an aesthetic disaster. No need for the black jersey. The Mets original uniform was the glorious blue pinstriped uniform with the blue hat and interlocking, in script, NY. The most classic uniform in all of baseball. Mets management was foolish to ever have another uniform. This is not a retro uniform, as much as it is a return to the way things should be in Flushing. Introducing, or re-introducing, this classic haberdashery has nothing to do with the Mets commitment to improving the team. The Mets have just restored tradition to a franchise that has seemed to dismiss it in kind.
The Mets will wear baseball's best uniform on April 5, 2010 when they take the field in those classic pinstripes. The best pinstriped uniforms in New York.
