Sate Your Mac 'n Cheese Fix At SoHo's Macbar

Our Lisa Mateo cooks up some good old comfort food macaroni and cheese at new SoHo restaurant Macbar that specializes in the side dish.

Macbar, a new restaurant fully dedicated to gourmet macaroni & cheese, opens today in the bustling shopping district of SoHo. Tucked within a macaroni shaped nook behind big sister Delicatessen on Prince Street, Macbar adds high style to comfort food.

The visual impact of Macbar is as bold as the idea itself. With a staff outfitted in custom Vans sneakers, bright yellows and dark browns set the scene for 12 gourmet flavors served in custom created, macaroni shaped packaging including custom designed interlinked forks and knives.

Each flavor of macaroni and cheese is represented by an icon created to symbolize each individual flavor. Flavors range from popular favorites such as Four Cheese made with queso blanco, fontina, emmental and gouda to Mayan Chipotle with chicken diablo, chihuahua cheese and green onions.

Step outside the box with Mac Lobsta’ with tender chunks of fresh lobster, cognac, tarragon and marscapone; Mac Quack with duck confit, fontina, caramelized onion and fine herbs; and Carbonara with pancetta, green peas and parmigiano cheese. To drink, wash it all down with Bounce, macbar’s specialty energy drink, Quench, their custom brand of bottled water or a variety of Jones Sodas.
