5 Ways Men Can Shave Years Off, Look Younger

younger1118.jpg

We women will try anything to defy our age! From lotions and potions to gadgets and gizmos and that got us thinking, what about the men in our lives? Here with five simple anti-aginig solutions for guys is Gordy Megroz, senior editor of Men's Journal.

1. Whiten Your Teeth
Something that's stained we usually associate with having been around for a long time and that includes your teeth. The Rembrandt 2-hour tooth whitening formula gets squeezed into a tray that you wear for 20 minutes. Over the next two hours it bleaches your teeth. They won't glow in the dark but they won't look old and dingy either. $20; rembrandt.com

2. Take Care of Your Skin
Flaky, leathery, wrinkly skin makes you look weathered. There are two steps to making sure it remains young and healthy looking: drink plenty of water (the best policy is to just sip off a water bottle all day) and use a good moisturizer a couple times a day. We like the Kiehl's Facial Fuel because it has an SPF 15 in it, which obviously protects against the sun and therefore prevents any more damage that causes that leathery, wrinkled look. But it also has caffeine in it, which actually causes the skin to tighten and look more rejuvenated. And it's not greasy, which is always nice. $21; kiehls.com

3. Take Care of Your Hair
Obviously graying hair makes you look older but a product like Just For Men is easy to use. Just lather it in like shampoo, let it sit for five minutes, and rinse it out in the shower and the grays should disappear until they start growing out again. Facial hair also makes you look older so shave it off and if you're going bald, shave your head. Nothing says old guy like bald patches and comb-overs. $7; justformen.com

4. Dress The Role
Looking more stylish, like you know what's going on as far as clothing trends goes, makes you look younger because, in general, younger people keep up with trends. You can't go wrong by picking clothes that fit, like a nice pair of jeans (the ones I'll be wearing are from Seven). And jettison the running shoes for a more stylish pair of kicks like the low-top Nike Dunks (I'll be wearing some), which you can go online and customize for yourself. Remember that only your dad wears running shoes when he's not running. $150-$200; 7forallmankind.com; $80; Nike.com

5. Exercise and Think Younger
Older men are stereotypically paunchy so by getting regular exercise and keeping off the gut, you'll look much younger. I recommend a high-intensity program like Crossfit (it's free and you can find all the exercises at crossfit.com), which is designed to burn fat fast. And also just think and feel younger, be confident and have fun-you'll instantly look younger if you have a positive attitude.
