How To Avoid Identity Theft
Ready...Set...Shop! It's Cyber Monday...The big day when people hit the web to do their holiday shopping and this year is expected to be a record year.
Adam Levin from Identity Theft 911 was here and he gave us some tips for safe holiday shopping.
1. Make sure a website is on the up and up before giving out information. The site should provide full contact information, a street address, a phone number and an email address. Also, look at the return policy and see if it mentions a mailing address.
2. Make sure you check out a website's privacy policy. Good sites should have one. Look for the link at the bottom of the site page, read the policy and see if it fits within your guidelines and if it shares its information with third parties. Make sure you check for the trusted seal.
3. If you have a problem, the Better Business Bureau can help. Look for the BBB online program reliability program seal on the site's homepage.
If you have been the victim of identity theft, Identity Theft 911 has an experienced team of people that can help with all identity theft needs. For more information, visit www.identitytheft911.com.
