Adopt A Pet From The ASPCA

adopt1003.jpg

Dr. Steven Zawistowski of the ASPCA stopped by with a few four-legged friends in need of a loving home. He also spoke about the shelter's free cat food and litter program, which is in partnership with ASPCAR, Fresh Step Litter and 9 Lives Cat Food.

ASPCAR Cat Assistance Program
The recession hasn't just impacted people, but their pets are affected as well. According to the ASPCAR (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to AnimalsR), more than 3 million cats and kittens end up in shelters each year. This year, even more cats are at risk due to the economic downturn. To help keep cats in their loving homes, the ASPCA Shelter has teamed up with the ASPCA and the makers of Fresh StepR litter and 9LivesR cat food to offer cat food and litter assistance to cat owners most in need. The ASPCAR Cat Assistance Program will run like a cat food and litter bank for thousands of cat owners across the U.S.

Local Cat Food and Litter Bank
On Thursday, November 5th, cat owners in need of assistance can visit the ASPCA Shelter and receive a free Cat Assistance Kit, compliments of the ASPCA and the makers of Fresh Step litter and 9Lives cat food, while supplies last. The FREE kits will include a litter pan, litter scoop and cat toys along with free-product coupons for Fresh Step litter and 9Lives cat food. The Fresh Step coupons will provide up to 140,000 pounds of free Fresh Step litter and the 9Lives coupons will provide up to 31,500 pounds of free 9Lives cat food - all to support the ASPCAR Cat Assistance Program. One free kit will be given per household, while supplies last.

The Cat Food and Litter Bank event will take place at the ASPCA Shelter at 424 East 92nd Street, New York, NY from 11am to 2pm.
