We are the Bosom Buddies of the Hudson Valley and we also have created a calendar...of women in their 40s and older whose lives have been touched by someone with breast cancer. Proceeds from the sale of our calendar will go to Miles of Hope, a charity for breast cancer victims here in the Hudson Valley. Perhaps you would be interested in doing a story on a calendar with women of substance?
Nancy Faller,
I wish the Bosom Buddies of the Hudson Valley well with the promotion and sales of the calendar.
You might want to know that I know of another woman of substance, Alyssa, the young woman seated in the middle in the video. She also has been touched by someone with breast cancer, her great-grandmother, Alyssa adored and was very close to her.
If she were still with us today, she would be pleased with both calendars and I'm sure Alyssa would support your efforts as well.
Good Luck,
Alyssa's grandmother
Kudos to your buddies in Hudson Valley, Nancy. I would have much preferred to hear and see them on this show vs. the Hooter girls. If you haven't guessed already the main marketing engine for the show is.... CLEAVAGE!! Sad but true...
nancy,
I hope that your efforts do not go unnoticed. I can appreciate what your doing. But i take offense that you assume that just because these girls are in my opinion beautiful that they don't have any substance. Everyone has a story to tell no matter what they look like or what your point of view is of them. Shame on you people that try to strip these girls of the little success and exposure that they're getting. You don't know them nor do I, and we shouldn't be judging them based on what they look like. All they're doing is taking advantage of the opportunity thats been handed to them. I'm sure we all would do the same.
Nancy,
That is wonderful you have taken the time to create your own way to raise money for research. But you have made it obviously clear that you have not done any research about Hooters as a company and how they have given back to the community. Over the years Hooters has actually donated a total of $1 million to cancer research through The Kelly Jo Dowd Breast Cancer Research Grant. Kelly Jo was a woman who started her career as a Hooters Girl and was a very loved member of the Hooters family. Her passing touched thousands of lives. In addition, not only has Hooters participated in numerous fund-raisers and made countless donations to other local charities and organizations but the company also does other special things for our troops over seas through a program called Operation Calendar Drop. None of this would be possible without the help from these women. All these smart, beautiful Hooters girls work in the restaurants to pay tuiton, rent, and other daily essentials. They are the face of this company and work their butts off to get where they are at. Maybe the [lack of] substance is just you being envious you never had these opportunities when you were younger...
