Candy In Review: From the 1920s to Present Day

Dylan Lauren of Dylan's Candy Bar stopped by to show us how candy has evolved through the years. Lauren is the daughter of fashion designer Ralph Lauren and artist/photographer Ricky Lauren.

• '20s Candies
In the '20s chocolate was most popular.
Baby Ruth, Chuckles, Heath Bar, Milky Way, Mounds, Mr Goodbar, O'Henry, Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, Tootsie Rolls, Hershey Bar, Hershey Bar with Almonds, Idaho Spud

• '50s Candies
In the 50's the first Pez dispensers were introduced, which were Santa and a robot. Candy Necklaces were also introduced in the '50s.

• '60s Candies
Lemonheads were invented subsequently followed by grapeheads, appleheads and orangeheads. Sweet tarts were invented as a response to parents demanding a candy with less mess.

Pop Rocks were released. Many urban legends begin to spread, specifically the one where your stomach explodes if you mix Pop Rocks with Soda Pop, but they regained popularity in the '80s.

• '80s Candies
Ronald Reagan was president in 1984, and Jelly Belly created blueberry flavored bean, just so the President could serve red, white and blue jelly beans in the Oval Office and aboard Air Force One.
Airheads, Big League Chew, Push Pops, Nerds, Fruit Runts, Bubble Tape, Skittles, Sour Patch Kids
