Ask The Doctor: Could I Be Allergic To Beer?

The doctor is in! The PIX Morning News' Dr. Steve Salvatore is here to answer your questions:
1. Since I've stopped cutting my hair short I have not caught a cold. For 20 years in the military I had a crew cut and would get an annual cold and flu symptoms. Am I lucky or is there a connection? Could it be a heat retention thing?
Mel, Kew Gardens, Queens
2. Could I be allergic to beer? I had a draft beer and soon after broke out in intense, itchy hives. I'm thinking that I'm allergic to the hops or barley, but why would I get that reaction one time and not another?
Kristine
