The Road To Success Is Through Your Scent

Whitney Casey, author of The Man Plan: Drive Men Wild... Not Away stopped by to discuss a new study that finds what you think you smell like affects your body language, your self-confidence, attractiveness and the way others perceive you -- even if they aren't meeting you in person, where they can smell you. Your smell transcends all. If you "think" you smell better, you will act more self-confident and be perceived as more desirable.
Scientists at the University of Liverpool gave a group of men two different sprays to use for 48 hours, one with fragrance and the other without- both sprays were unlabeled and looked the same. After two days, the men were then asked to "introduce themselves" alone on video.
This video was shown to a panel of women with the volume down. The women were told to rate the men on self-confidence and attractiveness. Without seeing them in person, hearing them or smelling them, the women rated the men who were wearing the fragranced spray higher.
The women looking at the video didn't know how the men smelled or sounded, but the men subconsciously knew if they smelled good (they had been using a fragranced spray for 48 hours) their body language would reflect this, making them more attractive and confident-looking to women who were watching them on tape with the sound down then the men who weren't using any fragrance in the spray.
Wearing a fragrance impacts the pleasure centers of the brain, attracting people to the smell itself, but this study found that there is another more important facet to attraction and self-confidence. The effect scent has on the wearer's behavior is remarkable. It makes the wearer of the scent more appealing and attractive to others just based on the behavior of the person wearing the scent. It isn't the scent that attracts people, it is the positive behavior the scent gives the wearer that attracts them.

I don't know about this, I have always hated being around men who wear too much cologne. I would rather have a guy around me who is freshly washed and shaved, than one who saturates his skin & clothes with too much fragrance to make himself more attractive. One person's scent can be another person's stink.
