Mo'Nique Talks About Her 'Precious' Movie

Actress/comedienne Mo’Nique stopped by to talk about her dramatic role as Mary in the movie Precious and her new late-night talk show The Mo’Nique Show on BET.

Based on the novel Push by Sapphire, Precious is about teenage Harlemite Clareece "Precious" Jones. Abused by her mother and raped by her father, she grows up poor, angry, illiterate, fat, unloved and generally unnoticed. And just as she is about to give birth to her second child, Precious is accepted into an alternative school where a teacher helps her find a new path in her life.

Hailing from Maryland, Mo'Nique (whose real name is Monique Imes) is best known for her role as Nicole "Nikki" Parker on the TV series The Parkers. Her other acting credits include Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins, Beerfest and Soul Plane. She is the hostess and executive producer of Mo'Nique's Fat Chance, a beauty pageant for plus-sized women, on the Oxygen Network.
