On the field, this former NFL linebacker intimidated opposing teams thoughout his spectacular football career. Off the field, New York Giants Super Bowl Champion Carl Banks has a new challenge to tackle -- autism.
Banks is hosting the Carl Banks-Mariner's Bank Golf Invitational, a celebrity golf tournament aiming to raise money and awareness for the Bergen Community College Center Autism Initiative. Some of the famous faces coming out to play in the event are Lawrence Taylor (NY Giants Super Bowl Champion, Dancing With The Stars), Richard Kind (actor: Spin City & Mad About You), Steven Schirripa (actor: Sopranos), Montell Williams (TV personality) and Jim Brown (NFL Legend).
Banks is a native of Flint, Michigan and played for the New York Giants from 1984 to 1992, where he was part of the Giants teams that won Super Bowls XXI and XXV. He later played for the Washington Redskins and Cleveland Browns. Currently, Banks is part-owner, along with fellow ex-Giants Joe Morris and Harry Carson, of Arena Football League's New Jersey Red Dogs. He is also a football analyst for the New York Giants, Sirius NFL Radio and WFAN.
