14th Street Y Hosts ''50s Sock Hop'

The 14th Street Y is sock-hopping back to the '50s! Larry's talking to Camille Diamond, director of membership and community relations, about the event.
Put on your poodle skirts and come on down to their "'50s Sock Hop" Open House & End-of-Summer Bash − a free day of fun activities for kids and families at the 14th Street Y on Sunday, Sept. 13th!
They'll have some old-time '50s favorites like hula hooping with our Groove Hoopers − a cool new way to workout with hula hoops, where you manipulate the hoops in ways you never imagined! And don't forget jumping rope with their Punk Rope instructors! Punk Rope is a playful mash-up of recess and exercise, and they'll do it to the tune of upbeat 50's classics.
And finally: come on and do the twist, while twirling basketballs on your finger! The Hoop Wizard − the famous basketball entertainer who performs basketball tricks & skits − will be on hand to amaze you with his twirls and twists. Other fun activities will include: a rooftop carnival, outdoor kids concert featuring current Y music instructors, homespun merry-go-round, little playroom playtime for toddlers, and raffle & prize giveaways.
The 14th Street Y is located at 344 East 14th Street (betn First & Second Avenues). For more information, visit www.14streety.org.
