The Road To Success Is Through Your Scent

smell0902.jpg

Whitney Casey, author of The Man Plan: Drive Men Wild... Not Away stopped by to discuss a new study that finds what you think you smell like affects your body language, your self-confidence, attractiveness and the way others perceive you -- even if they aren't meeting you in person, where they can smell you. Your smell transcends all. If you "think" you smell better, you will act more self-confident and be perceived as more desirable.

Scientists at the University of Liverpool gave a group of men two different sprays to use for 48 hours, one with fragrance and the other without- both sprays were unlabeled and looked the same. After two days, the men were then asked to "introduce themselves" alone on video.

This video was shown to a panel of women with the volume down. The women were told to rate the men on self-confidence and attractiveness. Without seeing them in person, hearing them or smelling them, the women rated the men who were wearing the fragranced spray higher.

Chief Savings Officer Julia Gaynor from Eversave.com (the leading online savings destination site for women), stopped by with a list of the top ten things you should never pay full price for.

As Chief Savings Officer at Eversave.com, Gaynor spends her time scouring the internet for the best deals and shopportunities to share with her audience. Check out her blog at Eversave.com.

The Top 10 Things You Should Never Pay Full Price For:

Invite the moms in your neighborhood over for a clothing swap party or find similar events taking place in your community on Craigslist or your town Web site.

3. Restaurants:
Many restaurants offer mid-week specials and kids eat free deals. Signing up for your favorite restaurant’s email list will keep you informed of offers.

Always ask if insurance company offers alumni or AAA member discounts.
Make the insurance carriers aware that you’re shopping around for the best quote. They may be willing to negotiate.

Look for rebates, online coupon codes and manufacturer’s specials.
If your current plan has or is about to expire, look for used phones and incentive plans before signing a new contract.

Larry's live at Billy's Bakery for the launch of the NYC Go Orange Campaign which starts today September 8 through December 31.

Between now and the end of the year some 300 partners will have joined WPIX and Billy's Bakery to Go Orange to raise food, funds and awareness for hunger-relief. Orange is the color of hunger awareness. The focus will be on hunger in New York City and what New Yorkers can do to help other New Yorkers. About 1.3 million New Yorkers depend on the Food Bank.

Half of all New York City residents are struggling to put food on the table and one child in five must rely on a soup kitchen or food pantry to survive. Despite the fact that the Food Bank distributed 60 million pounds of food last year, we can't keep up with the demand. Never before in our history (and we've been around for 26 years) have we seen so many New Yorkers struggling to feed their families. From seniors, children and the working poor to the increasing number of city residents who are facing unemployment - the recession has been unforgiving. And in many respects, we expect the situation to be worse in 2010.

For more information, visit www.goorange.org or www.foodbanknyc.org.

AnnaLynne McCord Talks About The New Season Of '90210'

anna0908.jpg

Actress AnnaLynne McCord talked with us about the second season premiere of 90210 and her role as Naomi Clark.

"A lot has changed in Beverly Hills over the past summer. Some friendships have solidified, while others have been destroyed in the aftershocks of the earthquake that was prom night. Some romances have bloomed, while others have wilted or died on the vine. Some characters have struggled in an effort to be understood, while others have done everything within their power to conceal who they are...and the horrible things they have done.

"Season two of 90210 focuses on our group as they begin their all-important Junior year. They'll go through all the ordinary teenage struggles and triumphs - crushes, sexual discovery, academic pressure, evolving friendships, shunning and isolation, love and relationships, family issues, SATs, STDs, a desire to fit in, a desire to stand out, fear and humiliation, joy and exultation - but they'll do so in the extraordinary world of LA. In this world of movie stars and overnight success, glamour and glitz, surfing and sunshine, the American dream is large in the Hills, yet failure could come around any corner of the Boulevard of Broken Dreams," according to the CW.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, McCord has recently starred in the 2007 horror film remake Day of the Dead, and the 2008 horror film Slaughter. She has also made appearances on Close to Home, The O.C., Ugly Betty, Greek, and Cold Case.

The season premiere of 90210 airs tonight, Sepetmber 8 at 8pm.

jesse0909.jpg

He may be a hunk, but actor Jesse Metcalfe is not just a pretty face! His latest role establishes Metcalfe's diverse acting chops and proves he can hold his own against Hollywood heavyweight Michael Douglas in the new film Beyond A Reasonable Doubt.

The movie is a remake of 1956 film of the same name. Metcalfe plays C.J. Nicholas, a rookie journalist who begins investigating high-profile lawyer Martin Hunter, who is notorious for his impeccable record of putting criminals behind bars. Everything goes as planned until his friend, the one person who can exonerate him, is killed.

This California native got his big break when he landed the role of Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald on the short-lived soap opera Passions. The 82nd Annual Feast of San Gennaro, New York City’s longest-running, biggest and most revered religious outdoor festival, will be held from now through Sunday, September 20, 2009, on the streets of historic Little Italy, the lower Manhattan neighborhood which served as the first home in America for hundreds of thousands of Italian immigrants who came here seeking to improve their lives beginning in the early 20th century.

Boost Your Kids Brain Power With These Snacks

brainfood0915.jpg

Healthy snacking – for both kids and adults – is crucial to keeping brains extra sharp. And in-between the first bell and lunchtime, kids’ minds can slump without proper fuel. Parenting offers some delicious ideas for keeping kids brains and taste buds happy.
Deborah Skolnik, the magazine's senior editor stopped by to explain what parents should be looking for in a snack and offered some savory suggestions.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR
1. DHA-Omega 3: DHA is a powerful type of Omega 3 (a fatty acid), essential for kids' brain development
2. Complex Carbohydrates: Whole grains digest slower than simple, refined carbs (found in candy and chips) and prevent kids from a "sugar crash" while sitting in the classroom
3. Low Saturated Fat: Some fat is essential for keeping bellies satisfied longer, but moms should be on the lookout for items that are low in artery-clogging saturated fats.)

Megan Fox Talks About Her Sexy Scenes In 'Jennifer's Body'

megan0918.jpg

Emily Frances sat down with the sexy actress Megan Fox and talks about a sex scene with her male co-star Adam Brody and a girl-on-girl kiss with Amanda Seyfried in the new movie Jennifer's Body.

"Jennifer Check (Fox) is the sexy, popular captain of the high school cheerleading squad. All of the girls want to be friends with her, and all of the boys want to have sex with her. Jennifer's friend since childhood, Anita "Needy" Lesnicky (Seyfried), is a nerdy, substantially less popular, "plain jane" student. Jennifer ends up as the sacrifice in a Satanic ritual, held by a rock band, hoping that the sacrifice will increase their chances of getting a record deal.

"The ritual goes horribly wrong, causing Jennifer to get possessed by a demon and start feeding off of the boys in her high school; First seducing them to get close, and then consuming them in a manner similar to that of a Succubus. It becomes Needy's goal to stop Jennifer from killing more of her classmates," says IMDB.

Judge Mazz Brings The 'Street Court' To NYC

mazz0921.jpg

Judge Michael "Mazz" Mazzariello stopped by the studio to talk about laying down the law in his new show Street Court, which makes it series premiere today on PIX.

Breaking the court show out of the courtroom, the series follows Judge Mazz, tough-talking former Brooklyn D.A., across America as he holds court where it really belongs: at the scene of the dispute. Offering a fresh twist on one of the most popular program formats on television, Street Court advances the courtroom genre by pairing the authority and tradition of the judge role with the authenticity and drama of real locations.

As a seasoned litigator with 20 years of experience, Brooklyn boy Mazzariello has served the judicial system from all angles. He has worked as both a New York City prosecutor and criminal defense attorney; and he has also mediated and investigated thousands of cases involving matters of family, community, and workplace. Mazzariello served as Chief Prosecutor for the New York City Board of Education under the Guiliani administration. He also founded East New York Legal Services, a walk-in nonprofit law firm created to provide legal aide to New York City’s most disenfranchised communities.

Walgreens Donates Flu Shots To Uninsured Americans

shot0923.jpg

A couple of staff members, including Dr. Steve Salvatore are getting seasonal flu shots live on the show. Due to bigger flu concerns this year, the CDC moved up the date for seasonal flu shots by one month vs. last year.

I know all the news is on swine flu, but the H1N1 flu shots will not be available nationwide until at least Oct. 15, and people should not forget to get seasonal flu shots. The CDC says that roughly 36,000 people die each year from the seasonal flu.

Also, Walgreens will be donating $1 million in seasonal flu vaccines to uninsured adults in the U.S. They are rolling out the “Arm Yourself for the Ones You Love” campaign on Sept. 1 that encourages people to get the seasonal flu shot. Walgreens has the largest retail network of certified immunizers in the U.S. with more than 16,000 health care professionals including pharmacists, nurse practitioners and physicians assistants.

• Walgreens will begin offering seasonal flu shots on Sept. 1 at more than 7,000 points of care nationwide, including nearly all of its stores in 50 states and almost 350 in-store Take Care Clinics.

• With more than 16,000 pharmacists, nurse practitioners and physician assistants licensed or certified to provide flu shots, Walgreens has the largest retail network of immunizers in the U.S. and can provide seasonal flu shots most hours its pharmacies and Take Care Clinics are open.

• Beginning Sept. 8 through Sept. 30, all clinics and Walgreens pharmacies will have immunizing pharmacists or nurse practitioners on staff from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, offering shots on a walk-in basis or by appointment for $24.99. Shots are available outside those hours if an immunizing pharmacist or nurse practitioner is on duty.

Aziz Ansari Talks About The New Season Of 'Parks And Recreation'

aziz0923.jpg

Actor/comedian Aziz Ansari stopped by the studio to talk about the second season premiere of the hit NBC comedy Parks and Recreation.

The comedy series explores "the mundane but necessary ways that people interact with their government, and ask why it's frequently so complicated -- as everyone knows from standing in line at the DMV, applying for home construction permits, or trying to get the city to fix a pothole," according to NBC. The Love Guru Tells Us What Women Really Want To Hear

love0930b.jpg

Being a single man in New York City is easy for some, but for others -- not so much. For those who aren't born with the gift of smoothness, there's Love Systems, a company that guarantees it could mold your average Screech into the smoothest guy in the room.

Love Systems claims to level the playing field, where how much money a man makes or how he looks doesn't matter. The company is based on a group of traveling instructors who go city to city, holding bootcamp seminars for clients looking for love.

During the day, the expert instructors teach what the company describes as "the best and most comprehensive method" to pick up women. At night, the group leaves the classroom and goes to local clubs and bars where the instructors become wing-men to the mac daddies-in-training.

PIX Morning News' Andrew Ramos spent the day with Love Systems' instructor "The Don" and got the 411 on what to do and not do when approaching women.
