This is a very tragic thing that happened to all of the families involved, the important thing should be more concentrated on is that child in that hospital. The emotions all parties are feeling of course is anger, they should just deal with it accordingly. However, easier said than done.
I don't think the family should sue, I don't believe that her family realised or knew the state she was in, I know the family of the three men that died is suffering and in grief, but so is the Schuler family. Come on people, they lost children, isn't that punishment enough, they are going through the same pain if not more, they have to live with the fact that it was caused by one of their own. A five year old boy has to live with that all of his life. Do you hold him responsible for being in the vehicle with his drunk mother, isn't he traumatized enough, and you think that adding more to his family's pain will ease your pain.
Don't you think that suing his father will affect him too. Hasn't he suffered enough. Daniel Schuler didn't just lose his wife, he lost a daughter too. Brian Schuler lost his mother and sister, the brother lost three children. Are you honestly telling me that isn't punishment enough.
Its very tragic for that toxicology report came back positive for drugs and alcohol, but how can anyone blame the family for someones addicting problems? In a legal stand point, the other families really don't have a legal leg to stand on, sge was a grown woman, not a child, for then, the families could be legally responsible. The road their taking with sueing the family, is a he-said-she said tactic, and if you look at it, it just doesn't hold. They should take that energy and put it towards education for people with addictions, unfortunately this tragedy could be a lesson for people who are addicts, and repeat offenders. Sorry that something this evil had to make a turn of events like this to be a lesson on ignorant people who think only of them-selves with their selfish addictions. Just thank god that a life was spared, and look at that child, and thank god he is alive, now the only bad thing is that child has to live with this, and hope the other families don't ignore him because of his mothers actions, he needs his family right now,and lets hope they will put aside their emotions and be there for him.
Yes julesrizzo, lets thank god, cause he saved just 1 person. He should have saved all of them.
But back to the article. The family isnt responsible in ANY way. They have no control over a fully grown woman who can (although not very smart) make her own descicions.
Although the family WILL sue, and probably win due to "pain and suffering", people need to realize that they have no control over the situation and there sadly isnt a thing they can do about it.
Are you kidding!?!?!? This guy is going to get sued now?? It's sick...it's not right. Hey, you lost a daughter too, let alone a wife, but we're gonna sue you cause someone should be responsible. Well sorry, the person responsible is no longer with us. I can see being responsible for my juvenile kids, but not my wife. This is what's wrong with this country, where people can just sue whoever, whenever, for whatever. When will it stop?
I disagree with the idea of the family getting sued. They are not the ones who caused the accident. It's truly sad and tragic but suing will not bring any of the deceased people back. I see nothing to be gained by doing this.
People die, someone will have to pay for this, either criminally or civilly. If it was your family member you would also want some kind of justice too.
How can someone not know that she was drunk? She must have been a pro at hiding it. Who does that, who gets in a car with children DRUNK!
