She said the billboard is part of a new advocacy campaign from Boys & Girls Clubs of America's to encourage today's youth to BE GREAT. Ashanti joins some 25 prominent alumni, including Denzel Washington, Shaquille O'Neal and Mario Lopez, in BGCA's campaign to increase public awareness about the serious issues facing today's young people, and issue a call-to-action, urging every American to help young people BE GREAT.
This 28-year-old is from Glen Cove, Long Island and had her big break in 2002 with her self-titled debut album. Ashanti's early Billboard Top 100 songs include "Foolish" and "Always On Time." She also had roles in the movies John Tucker Must Die (2006) and Resident Evil: Extinction (2007).
