duo0810.jpg

Scientists are discovering that when you combine certain foods in your daily diet, you get a supercharged health boost that can fend off heart disease, cancer and more. We'll reveal five all-star food duos, explain how they work, and offer great ideas on how to combine them into a delicious snack.

Camille Chatterjee of Redbook Magazine, showed the foods for visual and a sample snack that combines them, including:

Blueberries + Walnuts (reduce stress + boost memory) = Toss a handful of blueberries and chopped walnuts into cereal, oatmeal or yogurt.

Tomatoes + Olives (slows cancer cell-growth by 73%) = Try a tapenade

Citrus Fruits + Oats (lower overall cholesterol and boost heart health) = oatmeal with a side of OJ or sprinkle raw oats over orange segments, kiwi, mango or grapefruit in yogurt

Onions + Garlic

Turmeric + Pepper

For more All-Star Duos, check out the August issue of Redbook Magazine or visit www.redbookmag.com.
