Astoria's Sac's Place Celebrates 20 Years By Returning Menu To Original Prices

Sac’s Place, Astoria’s landmark Italian restaurant and coal oven pizzeria, celebrated its 20th anniversary tonight during a reception attended by dozens of “regulars” and local civic and community leaders. During the event, owners Anthony and Domenico Sacramone announced that all menu items and pizzas will return to their original 1989 prices from August 19-23 in celebration of their two-decade milestone.
Sac’s Place opened for business on August 19, 1989 and continues to offer an affordable and diverse array of Italian menu items as well as a selection of almost 100 bottles of wine. Traditional dishes like eggplant parmigiana, fried calamari, veal marsala and Mamma Sacramone’s famous homemade pastas have made Sac’s a neighborhood favorite. The 2009 Zagat Guide cited Sac’s “amazing” thin crust pizza topped with “quality” ingredients as well as its “friendly” atmosphere.
Sac’s Place isn’t just enjoyed by locals, it has catered to many celebrities like Jon Bon Jovi and director Ron Howard, who have requested their food on dozens of occasions while filming at nearby Silvercup Studios. In fact, Sac’s food was so popular at the studios that Soprano’s script writers named a character after them called “Johnny Sac.”
Sac’s Place is located at 25-41 Broadway in Astoria, Queens. Off-site catering is available as well as on-site parties of up to 70 people. Restaurant and pizzeria hours: Sunday-Thursday, noon-11pm. Friday and Saturday, noon-midnight.

JUKARI Fit to Fly makes fitness fun again by introducing a new way to move in a gym workout and is accessible to all women, regardless of fitness levels. The hour-long workout has been created on a specially-designed piece of equipment called the FlySet. The result is a workout that gives the sensation of flying while strengthening and lengthening the body through cardio, strength, balance and core training.
The class will launch in top gyms in twelve cities around the world including Hong Kong, Mexico City, Madrid, London, Krakow, Munich, Seoul, Kuala Lampur, Buenos Aires, Santiago, Montreal and Los Angeles. In New York, the class will be held at Equinox Fitness.
The Reebok-Cirque du Soleil partnership and JUKARI Fit to Fly workout are the direct result of insights into what women really want from exercise. A survey of 15,000 women across 25 countries in 2008 found that while nearly half of all women know that exercise and keeping fit is very important to their overall health, less than 25% participate in fitness often. Specially-commissioned Reebok research looked at why this might be. The findings showed that nearly two thirds (61%) of all women would workout more if it was more fun. More than half (54%) felt exercise was a chore.

Kattan got his start with the famed Los Angeles comedy institution The Groundlings. It was there that he proved his talent for both physical and dialogue-driven comedy. He later joined the comedic cast of Saturday Night Live, where he starred as such laughable characters as the male exotic dancer Mango and Mr. Peepers, the apple-spewing monkey man.
Though many of Kattan's recurring roles were memorable it was his teaming up with Will Ferrell as the two nightclub-hopping, head-bopping Butabi brothers that garnered the most laughs and notoriety. The comedy skit eventually made it to the big screen in 1998's A Night at the Roxbury. Kattan also went on to star in films such as Corky Romano, Undercover Brother and Monkeybone.

Ever had a bag of lettuce or a tomato go bad less than a week after you bought them? Teri Gault, founder and CEO of www.thegrocerygame.com knows just how you feel! The problem is shoppers don't know the proper ways to store food in a way the will keep it fresh and flavorful. During these tough economic times, there is no room for waste, especially when it comes to feeding your family. The less food you toss out, the more money you'll save!
Teri showed Lisa Mateo some simple and easy ways to keep your food fresher and last longer - saving you time, money and those additional trips to the grocery store:
• Lettuce – The pre-washed bags of lettuce for salads wilt in just a couple of days, since their water content speeds up oxidation. To keep leafy greens crisp for a week longer, take them out of the bag as soon as you get home and without rinsing them – WRAP them in a clean dishtowel. This will whisk away the moisture that causes them to go limp!
• Yogurt – Buy some extra when it’s on sale, but get the ones with a far off expiration date. Usually, yogurts can last up to 5 weeks and you can even try freezing them and putting them in a blender to make a pure yogurt smoothie. HINT: Larger yogurt containers spoil more quickly, so stick with the smaller packages!

Jimmy Page and Jack White spoke with Emily about their upcoming film, It Might Get Loud.
Billed as "a documentary about the electric guitar from the point of view of three rock legends," the film was conceived by producer Thomas Tull and directed by An Inconvenient Truth's David Guggenheim. The Edge stars alongside Page and White. Filmed through the eyes of these three rock'n roll virtuosos from three different generations, audiences will discover how a furniture upholsterer from Detroit, a studio painter and musician from London and a 17-year-old Dublin schoolboy each utilized the electric guitar to launch them into the arena of superstardom.
In the documentary, each rocker describes his own musical rebellion. They also play on the same stage together, share their influences, swap stories, and teach each other songs. The interviews are joined by visual treats, which take us to places where famous songs were written, and pivotal moments in rock history took place.
Jimmy Page is the founding member of Led Zeppelin, and helped define their signature hard-rock guitar sound. Jack White formed The White Stripes in 1997 with his sister, Meg. Since then, they have garnered five Grammys. White went on to form The Raconteurs, his second band, whose debut album Broken Boy Soldiers debuted at number 7 on the Billboard charts. The Edge is the guitarist of the renowned Irish rock band U2, and has been described as one of the most influential guitar players of his generation. His minimalistic style is a signature for U2's music.
It Might Get Loud opens in New York and Los Angeles Theaters today.

Authoress, comedienne and host Joan Rivers stopped by the studio to talk about her new TV series How'd You Get So Rich?.
The show follows Rivers as she explores the lifestyles of the fabulously rich (and lucky) who made their millions not on Wall Street, but by creating products like Billy Bob Teeth and Butt Paste. It's an escapist fantasy and an inspirational tale for these tough times." How'd You Get So Rich? premiered on August 5.

Angelique, 17:
Key Trend: Taking summer shorts into winter
Angelique is taking her favorite denim shorts into fall by layering them over a pair of basic black leggings. Every girl has a pair of cotton leggings and lightweight cotton T's in their closet. You can also do this with your favorite khaki shorts and tights. These denim shorts are high-waisted and have a great stitching detail at the hem. We've added a long sleeve t-shirt which has this cute ruffle detail at the neckline, making it a perfect layering piece. On top of her t-shirt Angelique is wearing a fantastic cropped trench coat. If you're going to buy one piece to replicate this outfit, the cropped trench is that must have trendy item. This is such a great layering piece because it takes the idea of spring trench and makes it transeasonal.
