If Mr King wants to be so rightous, can someone ask him where are the priests, that had been molesting and ruining so many kids lifes throughout the years. I do not know about any priest going to jail, for molesting kids...
I think they are as guilty as Michael Jackson.

Kudos to Rep Peter King. He's speaking for all those who do not worship celebrities. Given, Michael Jackson was incredibly talented. Put it into perspective--he danced, he sang. There are people who go to work everyday whose objective is to protect children. They work for low wages, they endure incredibly high caseloads. There are people who place their life on the line everyday. They fight fires, they put themselves in harm's way on our streets and they go to foreigh lands to protect our country--firemen, policemen and soldiers. Face it, the media is catering to the shallow, desperate and misplaced adulation of a mentally ill man with questionable morals.
Al Sharpton just called him a historical figure?? Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Colin Powell, Michael Jackson??

WATCHING YALL INTERVIEW THIS MORNING EXTREMRLY UPSET ME. YES YOU HAVE THE FREEDOM SPEECH BUT HOW DARE U DISRESPCT MICHEAL JACKSON OR ANY PERSON WHO DIED. I WAS TAUGHT NOT GUILTY TO PROVEN SO...AND THE LAST TIME I CHECKED HE WAS ACCQUITTED OF ALL CHARGES. MICHEAL JACKSON WAS AN GREAT INFLUENCE ON MANY PEOPLE. PEOPLE ALWAYS WANT TO RECONIGZED THE NEGATIVE THINGS THAT ARENTT EVEN TRUE INSTEAD OF THE FACTS LIKE HOW HE GAVE A HUGE AMOUNT OF MONEY TO CHARITY...HELPED MANY SICK CHILDREN....WON MANY GRAMMYS AND OTHA AWARDS. ALTHOUGH I DIDN'T KNOW HIM PERSONALLY I GREW UP WITH HIM LIKE HE WAS FAMILY AND ONCE AGAIN I LIKE TO SAY HIS INTERVIEW AND VIDEO WAS UNCALLED FOR AND SHOULD BE BANNED BUT I'M NOT GOING TO STOOP AS LOW AS HIM AND SAY BAD THINGS ABOUT HIM.

Posted by Jim B at July 6, 2009 7:55 AM

Finally, someone (Rep Pete King) has said something to get the attention of the media. You ALL look foolish (yet again). Someone challenges your coverage of a dead entertainer (and by the way, that's all he is...really) and when your anchors have the opportunity to discuss the issue they seem defensive and appalled that someone would dare do so.

Jackson was indeed a historic personality (like him or not...and I am personally neutral toward him and his passing) and many people are interested in the stories related to his death. But, how's this for an idea...just tone it down a bit and put Jackson's passing into reasonable perspective.

If you guys want to do some introspective coverage of Jackson's death why don't you do a story on why Al Sharpton is involved with Jackson's death. Jackson clearly didn't want to be black anymore...so why would Sharpton want to stick his "two cents" in? Perhaps just to put his face and name in yet another media fracas. Dig around that one...or is that too challenging and pottentially damaging for you folks?

YO WHO IS THIS DUDE?

GOV PETER KING, DUH I KNOW HE’S A GOVENOR, AND I TEND TO MIND MY BUSINESS WHEN IT COMES TO POLITICS, BUT I FEEL HE HAS KNOW RIGHT TO DOWN PLAY A HISTORICAL HUMANITARIAN (MICHAEL JACKSON). I THINK HE’S AND UNDERCOVER RACES, AND DOESN’T LISTEN TO POP MUSIC, HE’S JUST UPSET BECAUSE WERE TRIBUTING MICHAEL BETTER THAN WE DID ELVIS. HE NEEDS TO GO DO SOME MICHAEL RESEARCH, MICHAEL WAS AQUITTED OF ALL THOSE ALLEGATIONS, HIS ACUSORS JUST WANTED FAST CASH WITH NO REAL PROOF, THE MEDIA CAUSED MIKE TO SPAZ OUT THAT’S WHY THEY WERE CALLING HIM WACKO JACKO. AS FAR AS HANGING BLANKET OVER A BALCONY SURE IT WAS A CHANCE HE TOOK BUT HE WAS JUST GIVING THE MEDIA WHAT THEY WANTED A CLOSER LOOK AT HIS NEWBORN, HE WASN’T GOING TO DROP HIM THATWAS MEDIS HYPE EVEN THOUGH I AGREE THAT WASN’T THE PROPER WAY TO DO IT, BUT I KNOW HE HAD KNOW BAD INTENTIONS. WHY TRY TO DEFAME THE MAN NOW THAT HE’S DEAD (R.I.P). MICHAEL JACKSON DESIGNED AND CAME UP WITH A WAY TO FEED MILLIONS OF CHILDREN IN AFRICA, HE SENT THEM LIKE 44 MILLION DOLLAR ISN’T THAT LIKE A RECORD IN THE BOOKS RIGHT NOW, PETER AINT GIVE NOBODY NOTHING, I DON’T EVEN KNOW HIM, I THINK HE’S JUST HATE, CAUSE MIKE IS BLACK, NOT START NO RACIAL STUFF BUT COME ON ELVIS WAS A RACIST AND I DIDN’T HEAR HIM SAY ANYTHING ABOUT HIM, HE PROBABLY HAS A GIANT ELVIS PICTURE IN HIS HOUSE, MICHAEL JACKSON WAS AND WILL ALWAYS BE THE BEST ENTERTAINER AND HUMANATARIAN OVER HERE I DON’T CARE WHAT THE POLITICIAN AND MEDIA SAY, WHY HASN’T NO ONE COME FORWARD NOW HE GONE, LETS HERE IT OR ARE THEY THINKING OF A WAY TO SCHEME TO CAPITALIZE OFF HIS DEATH, I BET THEY ARE, STAY TUNED, PETER KING JUST STAY WITH POLITICS AND HELP GOV PATTERSON GET THE SENATE BACK IN ORDER…isn't this the same guy bashing obama, he was a genius, and i would let my children hang with michael he was a big kid

Posted by Chrissy at July 6, 2009 8:06 AM

I feel that the people who are celebrating his life are forgetting the horrible things he has done. Sleeping with children in his bed and giving them Jesus juice (his own admission). What are we showing our children that if you become a millionaire that all of your sins are forgiving. Well the only one to judge him is in heaven and I don't think he will get through those pearly gates.

Posted by Eva Meyers at July 6, 2009 8:08 AM

I totally agree with Peter King. Unfortunatley Michael Jackson had a strange addiction to small boys. I don't care how great of a dancer or singer you are. Enough already with Michael Jackson. after all his estate is making tons of money. He has always been a "freak"

Posted by Cheril Christopher at July 6, 2009 8:08 AM

Congressman peter King is out of place because he has no proof that he did anything. Mr. King never saw him molesting children. People had much to gain by choosing Michael as a target. Mr. King people get sued when you donot have proof of what you are talking about.Get more information before you ill-speak anyone, it may come back to haunt you. Remember you are a political figure. Stop Hating.

Posted by Jim at July 6, 2009 8:16 AM

Michael Jackson was not proud to be black. He spent alot of money trying to make himself look white (just like Al Sharpen).
Although talented he lived a horrible life, filled with sick sexuall fetishes and drugs.
In the past few years his popularity was failing, now that's he is dead the black community whats to make him a maryter.
And people whats to know why the world is sick??

Posted by Kevin Keyes at July 6, 2009 8:19 AM

I have no problem with Peter King having an opinion but in the same breath here is a man responsible for helping to uphold the laws of this country Michael was accoussed and aquitted last time I heard that in this country every one has a right to defend there self which michael has done an was found innoccent why is Peter King using the death of another human being to push a personal agenda if you had something to say do it while he was alive the media has allways given Michael more than ample news coverage he was an icon like elvis and we still praise Elvis to this day.

Posted by Doug at July 6, 2009 8:19 AM

Michael Jackson was a giving person and I feel the parents/guardians of these little boys saw an opportunity with Michael and try to make something of it.. Why didn't Michael get charged with molesting a rich kid??

Posted by Barbara Lee at July 6, 2009 8:23 AM

How could this be called "freedom of speech"? Is it because it is Michael Jackson, that he chooses to belittle this wonderful and amazing artist in death? If this were a high profile politian, such as there have been of recent, I don't think there would be any "freedom of speech" being exercised. How dare he degrade anyone like this in their death.

Posted by liz at July 6, 2009 8:23 AM

Here is a man who has been known to have improper relations with boys and changed the color of his skin. Yeah we should be proud of him!

Posted by crystal watson at July 6, 2009 8:26 AM

This is America and everyone has freedom of speech but peter king just wants some attention and right now this is the best way that he can get it. I don't know how he gets off on talking about someone who is already dead and gone, he needs to just leave Micheal alone unless he has been touched in his no no spot by Micheal before. Anyway peter king needs to take his petty thinking off of something and someone that shouldn't be important to him and start thinking about how to handle long island's problems and the legacy he is going to leave when he dies and what people are going to say about him, if he is even important enough to talk about cause MJ is, he's talking about him.

Love u always MJ Hopefully you can finally R.I.P

Posted by robin daniels at July 6, 2009 8:32 AM

My take on Peter King's comment is so so wrong. He needs to go live on another planet by himself. He is a nobody to me.Michael Jackson is the GREATEST of all time.

Posted by Kamela Payne at July 6, 2009 8:34 AM

I would like to remind the hate mongers that Michaeal jackson was never convicted of child molestation and I see to these lost soul that mean nothing, we live in a society where greed and power will drive people to fasely accuse people and take any opportunity to bring attention to themselves Peter King the congressman is a poor sighted individual who has very little to offer our society
I like to know what change he has made to make life better for us and he's being paid to do so. Michael Jackson was a victim of greedy hungry and sorry lost souls. despite that his number one goal was humanity for all people thats why the world is paying attention. Humanity was at his core. In America we can be fast to tear our hero's down with out much tought but the world is watching and the world seems to be more open minded and not out for blood Michael spirit was attacked and and this tore at his soul. I wish he wasn't as sensitive he may be with us to day. Michael will always be loved. and no one can change that

Posted by Tamela at July 6, 2009 8:37 AM

I walk around with US currency in my purse bearing the images of slave owners and the only plight you could take is on the coverage of Michael Jackson. Give me a break!

Posted by Bobby Seabrook at July 6, 2009 8:41 AM

Peter King is showing his true colors, a babbling do nothing politician. Obviously he never liked Michael. His rant is nothing more than psycho babel. He knows that Michael was acquitted of all charges, and that over the weekend it was reported that the first allegation was created by the child's parents, and was false.

King should work on getting the country out of the crisis that he and his party put us in. King is a failure and he is trying to divert attention away from himself. No one in long Island should ever vote for this guy. Long Islanders should ask him why did he allow Long Island to fall financially.

He is a very disrespectful clown. He will have to answer to God one day and that is the bottom line.

Posted by Objectively Speaking at July 6, 2009 8:53 AM

The United States Constitution gives us the right to free speech and liberty for all... However, I believe that, though Peter King has a right to his opinion, the timing should have been more considerate of a family in mourning. I agree that this country has become too accepting of things that would have "raised eyes" and caused an uproar in years past but let's not forget that people have immortalized and accepted drunks and drug addicts like Elvis Presley, they call him the "King", condoned inappropriate conduct from Presidents past whom publicly displayed a mistress by his side, but frown on and NOW want to question morality because it's Michael Jackson? If you dethrone one you should dethrone them all because personal lives should remain just that, their personal lives. Their contributions should be remembered and should not be overshadowed by what their personal lives were like. It's not fair to address issues with anyone who isn't alive to defend themselves. Say your peace while they are alive or forever hold your peace!

Posted by KY at July 6, 2009 8:56 AM

He should be ashamed slandering a man who can't defend himself especially since he was aquitted of those charges
He was a true humanitarian and has done so many wonderful things if he dosent are for that change the channel.

Posted by Greg in Poughkeepsie, NY at July 6, 2009 9:00 AM

I agree with Peter King's comments on Michael Jackson. Does this mean we should eulogize OJ Simipson, when he dies, just because he was a great football player?

Posted by sara williams at July 6, 2009 9:53 AM

I wonder why the Republican are loosing their grips. Because like congressman peter king their are wasting their time on becoming a cheap shot cowboy by insulting a great man Like Michael Jackson!
The court and 12 white juries found him not guilty but this cheap low life peter king tries to make a dent by trashing MJ for his political advantage. If MJ runs for his job he would out run him.
We know who is MJ but who is peter king?

Posted by D. Coleman at July 6, 2009 10:05 AM

I think that what ever Michael Jackson have done in his personal is his own. My whole is that he is gone and now. The news already covered All of his history, so let the man GO IN PEACE NOW.

Posted by Diana Sanches at July 6, 2009 10:20 AM

Anyone can be accused of anything, but we live in a country where one is innocent until proven guilty, where one is entitled to a fair trial. MJ was accused of some horrible things, but he was found INNOCENT in a court of law - an AMERICAN court of law. Does the Senator have no faith in the American Judicial System? As a veteran of the USMC I served my country to help preserve those rights and safeguard that system.
I believe that his statements were totally out of line. "While the right to fairly criticize people or entities and publicly share information is one of the hallmarks of personal freedom, it is illegal to malign the reputation of another through slander or libel."

Posted by Nerine at July 6, 2009 12:39 PM

I think Peter King is just jealous and wants to be seen. The man is dead get off his freaking back you dumb bleep.Go get a life a leave Michael Jackson alone. The world loves Michael Jackson and there is nothing you can do or say to or do to stop that. Stop hating on the man and watch what you are doing and not what you think he did.So what if his death is being covered alot, that shows that he was a good person, the greatest entertainer that ever lived. Just hope that when your day comes people will be as upset about you as they are about Michael. Ooohhh wrong, they won't be because you are not 1/4 of the man that he was and you will never be.I LOVE YOU MICHAEL.YOU ARE THE GREATEST.

Posted by Stacy at July 6, 2009 10:11 PM

I think the comments made by Peter King was inappropriate, and direspectful. We all are aware of the allegations made against Micheal, but none of us can prove what happened. For Micheal Jackson to have only been an entertainer, he has done just as much, if not more than any politician. I respect Peter for his opinion, but just like he said, America has way more to worry about than the media coverage surrounding the death of a pop singer. He should take his own advice and worry about the problems he responsible for focusing on, and let the fans celebrate the life of the most unique talent we will ever see.

Posted by kevin burnett at July 6, 2009 10:22 PM

Peter king is a coward! Yeah Mr. king, go ahead and pick a fight with a dead legend! and let's not forget mr. kings reported association with the terrorist group the IRA, since he wants to bring up shady past.

Posted by arlene davis at July 6, 2009 10:22 PM

peter king needs to stop worrying about micheal jackson and do his job. it seems to be a trend of new york politians saying much to do about nothing. if he doesn't like the media coverage of mj he should turn his televison off.

Posted by Marybel Ortiz at July 6, 2009 10:24 PM

It is appalling to me that someone who has chosen to represent the USA can so Callously disregard the feelings of a nation. Did he really need the publicity that he has gained with his mindless remarks so badly, that he would ignore the fact that Michael was tried and exhonerated.

This is not the kind of close minded individual that I would want on the Senate.

Posted by Pauline at July 6, 2009 11:46 PM

He is showing his age and his ignorance in a BIG way! In a time of recession isn't it wonderful to be thinking of something else and reading/watching(media influence)something else other than violence and poverty. Tuning in to this icon on TV and reading about him stirs up some of the greatest memories of my life and I simply cannot get enough..
As for his personal life that will be for GOD to judge and not us as is written "Judge not and you shall not be judged".
Peter King, you should know better, but I have come to not expect better from you in recent years.
I thank God for the legacy that Michael Jackson's music and dance has given us and will remain with us forever.
It is only fitting that we remember him so..
