Bagpipe Busker Rob Calder Treks Across The US For Charity

SCOT0724a.jpg

Bagpipe Busker and Super Scotsman Rob Calder, a 32-year-old bagpiper from Edinburgh, piped his way across the United States for charity.

Calder spent six weeks "busking" -- playing his bagpipes for tips in public -- from coast to coast, rain or shine, relying on the kindness of locals and people of Scots descent to host him along the way. He arrived in Richmond, VA yesterday and continues onto Charlotte, SC tomorrow, followed by Tennessee, Louisiana, Texas, Colorado, Nevada, ending in California late July.

Calder's busking has raised $7,417 so far for Ecas, a voluntary organisation in Edinburgh, dedicated to giving friendly and practical help to physically disabled people.

To make a donation to Ecas, visit www.ecas-edinburgh.org. For more on Calder, visit www.bagpipebusker.com. For more on Homecoming Scotland, visit www.homecomingscotland.com.
