Swimsuit Week: Beachwear For Kids

Kids fashion has come a long way in the past few years, and swimwear is no exception. Kids have styles and trends just like their adult counterparts, but they have safety concerns to address as well, which is what all of these suits do exactly that.
Kevin Lennox is here with some stylish choices for little fashion plates.
1. Shawn: Sun exposure is always an issue when hitting the beach, which is why a rash guard shirt and cargo shorts bottom like these are perfect. These pieces and all the kids ones we'll see today have a UPF of 50, so not only does Shawn look great he can go play for hours without his mom worrying about crazy sun damage.
Get The Look: Rash Guard Shirt ($14.99), Cargo Board Shorts ($9.99), Flip Flops ($4.99) & Body Board ($19.99), available at www.landsend.com
2. Shannon: One trend we're definitely noticing this year is a lean towards modesty movement. Kids just want their swimwear to be easy and casual on, so they can concentrate on staying active, which is what this two piece does so well, and in such a fun playful way. Shannon can jump into this outfit and jump right onto the beach for the entire day.

3. Rhonda: Just because she's a mom (of 8 I might add) doesn't mean Rhonda can't look fabulous at the beach too. Here she's in a lovely one piece with a skirted bottom. What I love is the tie front bust, totally works her cleavage, and the skirt hides any trouble areas Rhonda may have.

4. Garrett: The hottest style for kids, and this is pretty much a perennial one, is COLOR. Here we have Garrett in this amazing blue, but really, when you're shopping for your kid, almost any bright color will do. He's also wearing a swim vest, which is different from a life vest, in that it's meant to help him learn how to swim, not save his life. And, it looks cool too so he won't mind wearing it.
Get The Look: Cargo Board Shorts ($17.85), Swim Vest ($14.99), Flip Flops ($4.99), available at www.landsend.com
5. Olivia: Tie Dye is a popular look this year that we're seeing all over the place. Also, as I mentioned before, kids swim is very similar to adult swimwear, so feel free to mix and match bottoms like I've done here. All the grown-ups are doing it, so why shouldn't the kids get in the mix too?
Get The Look: Scrunchback Tankini ($22.13), Swimmini ($14.99), available at www.landsend.com
6. Suzanne: When you kids are all dressed in crazy bright colors, what's the best (and simplest) option for mom? White of course. It's super chic and surprisingly body conscious. This silhouette not only obscures any trouble hip or belly areas, but it draws the eye upward to your clavicle, a fail-proof spot on just about everyone.
Get The Look: Shape FX Swimdress ($39.00), Patent Slingbacks ($24), Straw Hat ($29), Bangle ($12), available www.shapefx.com
