Sometimes we hold our elected officials to higher standards and rightfully so. However, we forget that they are human and matters of the heart sometimes cloud our perceptions. The fact that the governor admitted his inhibitions shows that he is aware that he was wrong. The only thing that he should be accountable for is his abandonment of his job. Like any position- if you are a no show for an extended period of time, you should suffer consequences.

No big deal

If everyone that cheated on thier spouse had to quit thier jobs the unemployment line would be a hell of alot longer! I think this is a personal matter. The actual cheating part of it has nothing to do with his ability to govern. Disappearing for days without contact with his office is another story.

I just want to say that I despise the fact that the media portrays these government official men as if they were not human. Having an affair is something can that can happen to anyone it is a matter of the heart overtaking the mind. It can happen to the best of us and despite the Governors disappearance he is one member of am sure a cluster of Government officials who can deal with issues of South Carolina, so if he is said to be absent someone else can step up. Think of it this way if he were to be ill someone else should be able to at same level do what the governor is capable of doing. So in all his absence should not lead to a resignation. Why should one mishap govern all the just the he has done for his country?

His integrity is compromised. How can we trust him to uphold our needs, His didn't even do it for the woman he is married to?

I just think that personal life shouldn't affect your work. At the same time though, for someone who opposes same sex marriage and civil unions because they threaten the sanctity of marriage, it just seems hypocritical. Practice what you preach.
