Nia Vardalos Tells Us Why Her 'Life' is 'In Ruins'

She is best known for her star-turning role in My Big Fat Greek Wedding--now, Nia Vardalos is heading back to her native Greece in her new film, My Life in Ruins.
In the flick, Vardalos' character Georgia is a travel guide who finds that she has lost her kefi--or "mojo," in Greek. She is discouraged from the lack of direction in her life, but in the process of showing a group of rag-tag tourists around her native land, she soon begins to see her life in a different, more optimistic light. She might just recover her kefi--and discover true love in the process.
Vardalos hails from Canada and aside from acting, also dabbles in screenwriting and producing. My Big Fat Greek Wedding, which she starred in and also penned, won her overnight success. In 2004 she followed it up with Connie and Carla, which co-starred Toni Collette. She was also a part of the famed Second City comedy troupe.
My Life in Ruins hits theaters today.
