Happy 61st Birthday, WPIX!

Today is the 61st anniversary of WPIX! Happy birthday to us!
To help us celebrate and have fun are the folks from Frankie's Carnival Time and Frankie Bee Costume, who are out in PIX Plaza (42nd Street and 2nd Avenue) handing out freshly made popcorn to commuters. They also set up an inflatable basketball hoop. The folks at Dunkin Donuts also stopped by PIX Plaza to give away free donuts and coffee to people on their way to work.
Frankie's Carnival Time and Frankie Bee Costume is located at 3435 E. Tremont Ave, in The Bronx. For more on them, visit www.frankiescarnival.com. For more on Dunkin Donuts, visit www.dunkindonuts.com.
Stop by PIX Plaza this morning to say hello, wish us happy birthday, have some fun and get some free breakfast!
And we want to hear from you! What's your favorite memory of PIX? Leave a comment or e-mail us at morningnews@wpix.com

Rhe Bronx..
I remember when WPIX TV Ch.11 in NYC had the vert best
kids tv shows.
During the 1950's and 60's.Ch.11 had such great talents as
"Capt.Allen"Swift And "Capt.Jack"McCarthy hosting"The Popeye Show","Officer"/"Police Chief Joe"Bolton mc'ing"The Clubhouse Gang","The Dick Tracy Show" and"The Three Stooges Funhouse","Fireman Todd'Russell hosting "The Three Stooges Firehouse".
There was "Laurel&Hardy&Chuck","Let's Have Fun!"and"The Chuck McCann Show"with Chuck McCann and The Paul Ashley Puppets,"Bozo The Clown"(With Bill Britten playing "The World's Most Famous Clown),John Zacherley Hosting"The Mighty Hercules Show","The Cartoon Zoo"With Milt Moss,"The Beachcomber Bill Show","The Surprise Show"With Hank Stohl and The Morey Bunin Aniforms,The Eddie Lawrence Show,"The Merry Mailman's Funhouse","Time For Joya"/"Joya's Fun School" and"The Magic Garden".
Those kids tv shows are long gone..but the memories are still with us.
I use to love Let's Have Fun, all the Hanna/Barbera cartoons, the three Stooges with Officer Joe Bolton, Ray Heatherton as the Merry Mailman, Captain Jack McCarthy hosting Popeye and so many others. Oh, and of course the Yankees!!!!!
