Caribbean Week: Jamaica's Sights, Sounds From Queen Ifrica
We were supposed to be live at Long Beach this morning, but the weather is not the best today (the forecast is for rain all day). The winners of the Sparkle In The Sand contest have already been chosen and we'll send Larry to cover the face-off on a sunnier day.
So in lieu of going to be the beach, we are bringing the beach to us as Caribbean Week continues with the island of Jamaica.
Joining us to talk about the popular destination is Chris Dobson from the Jamaica Tourist Board. And Jamaican singer Queen Ifrica will perform sing "Lioness On The Rise" from debut her album Montego Bay.

I normally don't get up unitil around 7:30 am but I leave my TV on so that I am watching the WPIX news first thing and the sound of this lady's voice woke me up pleasantly around 7:00. My husband is from Jamaica and not only am I in-love with him, but in-love with the culture and mellow sounds of good vibing jamaican music.
This lady is truly talented and I have to admit that I have never heard of her before today..but I will be going to buy her album on Tuesday.
Please have performers like her on the show more often. Her style goes back to the roots of Jamaican music.
She has a very mellow voice, I just love all of her music. All of her songs are very inspirational.
I just want to say I sent Jill an email a day after she was on the air craft carrier and I asked her a question about her ball cap but I never heard back from her...I would like to know if she found the email I sent...
