Subway Sound Week: The Baby Soda Jazz Band

It's Subway Sounds Week on the PIX Morning News and we're bringing the talented performers from underground to midtown! Today we're featuring the tunes of The Baby Soda Jazz Band.
The Baby Soda Jazz Band is comprised of a trumpet, clarinet, washboard, banjo and string box bass. They describe their music as street jazz with an eclectic set of influences ranging from New Orleans brass bands, jug music, southern gospel and hot jazz. The group gave us a little taste of streetjazz with a performance of their song "Gloryland".
So far, we've heard the music of Acapella Soul and traditional Korean drummer Vongku Pak. Be sure to tune in tomorrow when we hear the musical stylings Michael Shulman's Electric Violin.
You can catch the Baby Soda Jazz Band tonight at 8:30pm at Jules Bistro in the East Village. For more on The Baby Soda Jazz Band, visit www.myspace.com/babysodaband.
