Peter, Bjorn And John Explore Their Darker Side With 'Living Thing'

Swedish indie rock band Peter, Bjorn and John spoke with Emily about their rise to stardom as per having their music featured on CW shows Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill, as well as The Hills.
Formed in 1999 in Stockholm, Sweden, the band is comprised of Peter Morén (vocals, guitar and harmonica), Björn Yttling (bass guitar, keyboards and vocals) and John Eriksson (drums, percussion and vocals). Their sound is influenced by the sounds of classic '60s baroque pop, power pop, and new wave. They are best known for the 2006 single "Young Folks," and their work has been sampled by the likes of Kanye West.
Their latest album, titled Living Thing, is a follow up to their last effort, Writer's Block. Living Thing is considerably darker in its undertones than its predecessor and aims at being more austere. It stands as a testament to the trio's effort to refine and reduce its sound into just the essential elements needed to put the songs' messages across to the listener.
Living Thing is available in stores now.
