Former Decathlete Dan O'Brien Goes For Guinness Hopscotch Record

Former American decathlete, Dan O'Brien and has been deemed one of the best decathlon athletes of the 1990s, winning an Olympic gold medal after winning three consecutive world titles. He's mastered countless athletic challenges, but now, he's facing a new test -- the game of hopscotch! To kick-off National Physical Fitness Month, O'Brien is jumping at the chance to add the Guinness Hopscotch Record to his list of achievements.
This attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the fastest game of hopscotch is part of a nation-wide effort called the "Outdoor Challenge" created to encourage parents and children across the country to participate in creative outdoor play this Summer. Parents are being asked to take the Outdoor Challenge Pledge, committing time each day to creative outdoor play. The goal of the campaign is to reach one million hours of pledged time.
O'Brien is holding a practice session today, May 5 at Chelsea Piers. You can join him this morning at Pier 61 at 23rd Street and Hudson River Parkway.
