what a joke

Posted by Anonymous at April 23, 2009 9:00 AM

no joke. this actually works. you get a great cardio work out and support from your instructors and classmates. It is serious.

Posted by Sharon B at April 23, 2009 10:08 AM

That's my school! We were talking about how channel 11 was going to be there today. I suprised by the turn out of my classmates. TSK is the best workout you could ever get and they really care about how you feel and what you want to accomplish being there. It's like having a whole group of motivators at your side while you work through the pain. Everyone should try it at least once, because after that you'll never want to stop going!!!!!!!

Posted by Onnik at April 23, 2009 11:32 AM

That is a fact...for all those who think that going here is a joke or the workout isn't as intense I challenge you to go to a class for an hour and see for yourself!! I've been there for a month and its like a drug to me..I cant stop going and have already dropped 10 lbs!!!

Posted by Maggie B at April 23, 2009 11:43 AM

I agree with Sharon B. I have lost 56 lbs so far since I started in the Yonkers TSMMA school. My son is testing for his High Brown belt this weekend and TSK has done wonders for him in the past two years. They are not just your average everyday dojo. Sensei Tirelli, Joshu G., and Joshu P. push me when they know I have it left in me. I can honestly say I can thank them for changing my family's life! And if you ever have the chance go to one of the fights any TSK fighter is at, you will see how we are a family from every school

what a joke]
- Are you kidding me? I go there for 5 and 1/2 years now, I am in the best shape of my life. I've never felt better and it is fun. This is no joke at all. I go to all sorts of competitions, won many trophy's, and am a First Degree Sempai (black belt). You not only learn how to kick and punch, but discipline, focus, attitude, non-quitting spirit, and a lot more all while you are having fun with people who are supportive for you.

I've been going there for a year and I can tell you that I LOVE TSMMA!!!! I was losing weight at first and then I stopped because I was not discipline and unlike regular boring commercial gym where your trainer only cares about your money, our respective instructors (Joshu, Sempai,Sensei, Shihan) do care and will make sure that you reach your goal!! I know, my Sensei held me back on my belt until I started losing weight and maintain discipline. So for the person who wrote what a joke?? Come and check us out and let's see how much of a joke are we in a room of positive people who are in it to win it, plus when have you ever gone to a fitness center and feel part of a family??. FROM A STUDENT TSSMA MANHATTAN OSU!!!!

To the person who called TSMMA a joke. I challenge you to try it. Simply try it. TSMMA teaches its students practical self defense and provides a challenging workout. You will get results. In addition to the physical benefits of training at Tiger Schulmann’s, there is the benefit of training with a group of people who are willing to push themselves to their physical and mental limits. I have learned so much about myself training at TSMMA School and I continue to learn more everyday. If you think it is a joke just try it. If you’re right you will get a good laugh, if you’re wrong ( as I know you are) you will get an awesome workout, learn something about yourself, get practical self defense training in a positive high energy environment ( and that’s just in the first hour). Just try it. Good luck to you. Osu

P.S. I have been training at TSMMA for almost two years now, I will never quit!

Yo go Sensei. TSMMA is great. I attend the Watchung school. The people are great and it's an excellent workout. It's gives you an energy boost, makes you more confident and gives you strength that you never thought you had...mentally and physically.

In response to the ignorant comment of it being a "joke", are you that low on yourself that you need to put something/someone else down? After 12 years of training with TSMMA, I observe that comment as someone who is a perfect candidate for classes. That person definitely needs a confidence booster, not to mention a reality check! lol

You hava clases fora a-dult?

Posted by Anonymous at May 6, 2009 3:25 PM

The only problem with TSK is that it is a money making karate school. They rip you off and a lot of people fall into it.

This place is no joke! i've been around martial arts for years. If you actually try there classes out, you will see that they have one of the BEST structures out there! you dont wind up with as many students and schools by being a joke! a joke is the sy kim tkd schools. the black belts are a shame! tsmma's black belts are sharp and on the money! I'm a JKD?SILAT guy myself but i respect what tsmma has done for martial arts in general. if you really think that they are a joke, youtube this guy Lyman Good. He is on his way to being the Bellatar champion and at the rate that he is on the come up, he will be the new face of the UFC!!! NO, I dont think TSMMA is the best but they are NOT a joke!!!!

What a joke? You're the joke! Anyone who can dismiss the success of TSK is in serious denial.
I have studied 4 styles over the last 30 years. I have earned a belt in 2 of them. The quality of TSK is so well controlled and thorough, it is incredible. Every Sensei must go to the Jersey H.Q.'s once per week to train and make sure they are teaching the way everybody else is or they lose their teaching certification. When you join a TSK school you are able to go to any other TSK school and in doing so you realize that you are part of a family, an enormous one. The expense. At first glance it would appear to anyone that TSK is very expensive. But, when you think of local schools, they can promote you or not promote at their own discretion. Often this allows for them to make more money as the years roll by. In TSK, when you're ready for the BB test, you're sent!
Thirdly, this argument i often hear about buying your BB is absolutely false. They [the critics] claim that when you pay to enroll you are practically guaranteed a BB after x amount of hours. Once you reach High Brown, it is totally up to the Sensei to decide when you are ready to test. They do not purposely hold you back to make more money, they simply won't send you just because you've paid x amount of $'s.
Re: "it's not the best, but it's no joke". Certain styles are geared more towards street self-defense and teach eye-gouges, trachea strikes, ear popping, groin rips etc. Some styles are geared more towards "sport" albeit you will be able to use these styles for self-defense.TSMMA is currently geared to the "sport" of MMA.
I must congratulate Shihan Schulmann for his ability in creating such a vast following. There are over 60 schools
